Affiliate Terms & Conditions

The Crafty Publishing affiliate programme allows you, a website owner, to earn revenue from your site by referring customers to the Crafty Publishing site. Every time one of these customers makes a purchase from us, you receive a commission for the sale, and we handle everything else.

How it works

On joining the programme you will be assigned a unique affiliate code to use in all links to pages of the Crafty Publishing website. Any time a visitor to your website follows one of these links, a cookie will be registered on their computer, identifying you as the referrer. If the visitor goes on to purchase one or more of our products, you will earn a commission on all eligible products (even if different from the ones you promoted on your site).

This browser cookie lasts for a full year, meaning that it remains effective even after the visitor has ended the browsing session in which they were first referred to us, so you can still earn commission for products purchased many days after your initial referral.

Note that a small minority of people set their web browsers to block cookies for reasons of privacy; in such cases our system will not be able detect an affiliate referral or assign a commission to you.

Eligible Products

All products that are sold directly from the Crafty Publishing website are eligible to generate affiliate commissions. However in cases where our products are promoted on our site but sold in other marketplaces (for example the Amazon Kindle Store), no commissions are payable.

Resources

Our resource section will provide assistance on creating links for you to cut and paste into your site's html, formatted with your unique affiliate code.

As an affiliate you will also have access to a range of graphical elements to assist in your promotions. These will be in standard web advertising sizes and formats so as to integrate into your existing website template with the minimum of fuss. Where you place these on your pages is entirely up to you; however you may wish to refer to this advertising heatmap for a general idea of the most effective locations.

It is not mandatory to use these banners, however. You are quite free to exclusively use text links if you prefer.

Commission

Commission is calculated at a flat rate of 7.5% of the total value of all orders where we are able to determine referral by one of our affiliates.

Unlike many other affiliate programmes, you are more than welcome to purchase our products using your own affiliate link, and accrue commission accordingly. Note that this does not apply to wholesale orders.

Commission is not payable on products that are purchased and subsequently returned for a refund.

Your account

The total value of accrued commission and payments to you are summarised in your account where you can access them at any time.

Crafty Publishing data is the single authoritative source when it comes to calculating accrued commission.

Payments

All accrued commission is paid out monthly, a month in arrears, subject to our £10 payout threshold. So, for example, all commission accrued during the month of September will be paid out at the end of October, subject to individual affiliates meeting the payout threshold.

We have deliberately kept the payout threshold low, meaning you should not have to wait months before getting your hands on your affiliate commission. However if you do not manage to reach the threshold in any particular month, your accrued earnings will simply be carried over to the following month.

Payments are made via PayPal, using Pounds Sterling (GBP) as the base currency. PayPal will automatically convert funds to your chosen currency at their normal rate of exchange at the time the payment is made. Crafty Publishing accepts no liability for fees charged by PayPal for receiving funds, currency conversion, or any other service provided by PayPal.

Acceptable Marketing Strategies

We encourage affiliates to use all legitimate means at their disposal to drive sales, including (but not limited to) blogs, traditional web sites, opt-in mailing lists, discussion fora, and social networks. However, sending Unsolicited Bulk Email (a.k.a. spam) or other similar unethical activities will not be tolerated and constitutes grounds for exclusion from any further participation in the programme.

Confidentiality

Any information you supply to us in support of your application for affiliate status, or in the course of your relationship with us as an affiliate, will be treated by us in the strictest of confidence and not disclosed to any third party without your consent unless we are obliged to do so as part of any legal proceeding.

Likewise we expect that you will treat all details of your dealings with us as commercially sensitive and not disclose such information to any third party.

We strongly encourage all affiliates to ensure they have a privacy policy statement on their own websites to advise their visitors that a cookie may be stored on their computer as explained above. Please note that this cookie contains no information that could be used to personally identify a website visitor, and is used solely for the purpose of detecting which of our affiliates (if any) referred the visitor to our site.

How to join

Membership of the affiliate programme is solely at the discretion of the owners / management of Crafty Publishing, and is subject to us evaluating your website according to niche, content and quality criteria. To apply, please submit your details using our signup form. If accepted, you will be assigned a unique affiliate code and given further instructions.
